Damage survey
In our high-end metallurgical laboratory in Geleen, the Netherlands, we conduct independent damage investigations. This investigation serves to identify the exact cause of the failure in order to make structural improvements that will prevent future problems.
Independent Claims Research
Analysis of Failed Components
Cases are discussed and samples selected during our global on-site inspections or through various means of communication. These samples undergo meticulous analysis in our laboratory.
We handle about 200 claims every year:
- 50% due to mechanical overload such as breakage, wear, fatigue, fabrication errors, connection errors (welding, bolting, gluing) or assembly errors.
- 50% due to corrosion, with one or more of the 12 corrosion forms being the cause.
Our clients range from plant owners who want to build knowledge about their facilities to insurers who need an independent assessment.
In-depth Research Methods
Our damage examination is often destructive and similar to the work of a pathologist-anatomist: we saw components open, prepare them for microscopic examination and search in detail for the cause of failure.
Where regular laboratories stop at a conclusion, for MCI the additional work begins. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that we not only identify the problem, but also formulate efficient and sustainable solutions.
Durable Repairs and Efficient Solutions
In the manufacturing industry, moving quickly is essential. Often a problem is temporarily fixed with a grinder or welding machine, which provides only a short-term solution.
By applying additional knowledge, we ensure that repairs are more sustainable and effective. We provide pragmatic advice to prevent or delay failure again for as long as possible.
Integrated Problem Approach: From Inspection to Solution
Leaks or plant failures? The OEM asks questions, but does not give answers that do not benefit him. Different parties each have their own interests, often preventing a real solution.
MCI offers an integrated approach that brings together independent inspections, laboratory testing and practical solutions. We work on the basis of facts and not assumptions. We ensure that your facilities remain or begin to perform reliably and safely.
